Kaby Lake Technology

Intel® Kaby Lake

Kaby Lake is an Intel® x86 architecture. The processors of the series are manufactured with 14nm structures. Compared to the predecessor models of the Skylake generation, the clock rate at Kaby-Lake has been increased and the architecture improved, resulting in improved performance.

Kaby Lake supports DDR4 memory and has improved codec acceleration for H. 265 and VP9 video. The processors also rely on a graphics unit of the HD-600 series.

EXPERT TIP

Kaby Lake & Windows® 7 und 8.1

The Intel® Kaby-Lake Series (7th Core-i Generation) officially no longer supports the operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The support of the operating system depends on the processor used and not on the chipset. Therefore, when upgrading the processor to the Kaby Lake series, it is necessary to change the operating system to Windows 10.

Even if a' Work-Around' is found and Windows 7 or 8.1 works in conjunction with a Kaby Lake processor, you will run at least on the first Windows update (patch, bugfix etc.) for an error.
