Slot CPUs are mainly used in the industrial sector. They are usually only equipped with the basic units such as processor, chipset, graphics and memory.

In contrast to the use of a classic motherboard with a fixed number of slots for plug-in cards, with a CPU card the number of expansion slots can be adapted as required with the help of the corresponding backplane. Slot CPU cards therefore offer a very flexible basis for building an industrial PC.

Types of CPU cards

PICMG 1.3 full- & halfsize

PICMG 1.3 was developed from the older standard PICMG 1.0. The interface used by PICMG 1.3 is PCIe slots instead of PCI and ISA. However, PCI slots are still available as an option. The dimensions of a full-size CPU card of this design are 338 x 126 mm, while the half-size version measures 168 x 126 mm.

PICMG 1.0

CPU cards with the PICMG 1.0 standard have PCI and ISA interfaces. With dimensions of 338 x 122 mm, the PICMG 1.0 CPU cards largely correspond to the newer PICMG 1.3 standard. In contrast, however, they do not have PCIe slots.

PCI

The well-established PCI standard is still used in many industrial computers today. Our half-size CPU cards offer you this standard in a compact design of 185 x 122 mm.
